OCC Publishes Report on Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program

On February 7, 2008, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) released the below-attached report on the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program in their publication Community Development Insights.

The report examines Housing Credit fundamentals and major considerations facing bank investors involved in Housing Credit deals.  The focus of the report is targeted to community bankers who are new to the program by decribing primary risks and regulatory considerations associated with investments in the Housing Credit program through either direct investment in individual properties or fund investments.  The report also addresses how bank investment in Housing Credit deals would be treated under a banks Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) requirements.
