Lauren Campbell is Counsel in Dentons’ Real Estate practice and a member of the firm’s Tax Advantaged Investing team. Lauren’s practice focuses on structuring complex real estate transactions designed to generate low-income housing tax credits (LIHTCs), as well as investment funds formed to move LIHTCs to end-user investors. Lauren has represented a wide variety of participants in LIHTC transactions, including real estate developers, tax credit syndicators and investment fund managers, lenders, non-profits, and investors. Lauren’s practice involves managing multiple parties with competing priorities and timelines and aligning multiple funding sources, including tax-exempt bonds, HUD-insured loans, Freddie Mac permanent loans, nonprofit and government grants, RAD conversions, and federal and state rental subsidies. She advises clients on tax-related structuring issues, including compliance with the LIHTC requirements as well as components of partnership tax items related to low-income housing transactions. She has also provided counsel on multiple single-building twinning transactions and the purchase or syndication of state tax credits. Additionally, Lauren regularly advises clients regarding asset management, restructurings/workouts, and year 15 exit strategies. Lauren was previously an associate at Holland & Knight LLP, Of Counsel at Ice Miller LLP, and general counsel at a national syndicator. She holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a B.A. from the University of Chicago. Lauren also serves on the Webinar Committee for the ABA Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development and the Events Committee for the Indiana chapter of the Women’s Affordable Housing Network.
