SALEM VILLAGE

COLUMBUS, OHIO

Salem Village is a new affordable senior housing community designed with comfort in mind, located in the Northland neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. Salem Village is a $12 million, 76-home apartment complex for adults aged 62 and older. This property reserves 28 homes for residents at 50 percent AMI, 27 homes at 60 percent AMI, and 21 homes at 70 percent AMI. The community consists of two, one-bedroom floorplans with modern kitchens, as well as convenient washer and dryer connections inside a laundry closet in each apartment.

Salem Village is a pet-friendly community with utilities included in the monthly rent. Salem Village is one of the first developments in the country to utilize the new HUD funds, as well as being the first such award in Columbus, Ohio.  Salem Village received an award in the inaugural round and anticipates a long partnership with Franklin County for future development in Central Ohio. The City of Columbus provided support through a tax abatement, which will help to reduce costs, sustaining affordable housing at this location over the long term.

National Church Residences purchased this site from the Central Ohio Community Improvement Corporation, in cooperation with the Columbus Land Bank in 2017. Honorable U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, serving the 3rd District of Ohio in the 118th Congress, provided her support of the project, both in a public press release when the HUD Section 202 Award was announced, and again at Salem Village’s Grand Opening event.
