As the President and CEO of CHR Partners, Inc. a national nonprofit affordable housing provider, Cano has overseen and participated in the financing of and development of over $200M in new construction over the last six years across the nation. In addition, Ms. Cano has led major growth initiatives leading her organization to serving more than 15,000 families across the State of Texas each month with a portfolio of more than 20 different critical social services.
In 2010, Ms. Cano completed time with the White House Office of Social Innovation and Civic Participation; responsible for engaging and promoting public-private partnerships on a national level in an effort to serve our nation’s growing needs. She also spent a great amount of her time working with FEMA and The Corporation for National and Community Service to deploy emergency relief and response to the 2010 BP Oil Spill. This gave Cano the ability to work first hand with the deployment of government resources for construction and rehabilitation.
Today, Ms. Cano works with a number of agencies and primarily focuses in the area of affordable housing development, community social service coordination, financial management and data collection/analytics. She has assisted in the creation and development of over three different proprietary data collection systems, specializing in maximizing efficiency and providing organizational sustainability. Furthermore, Ms. Cano also serves as an Adjunct Professor for Trinity University’s Entrepreneurship Program. Ms. Cano holds a BA in Political Science and Economics from the University of Incarnate Word, a Masters in Public Administration from UTSA and a Masters in Business Administration with a focus in Social Entrepreneurship. Ms. Cano was honored as the 2019 San Antonio’s Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Woman of the Year and in 2020 Top 100 Rising Stars by the National Business Journal.
