As President, Michael is responsible for the operations of National CORE, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit affordable housing developers. At National CORE, Michael leads the development of National CORE’s program and business strategies as well as oversees the expansion of National CORE’s portfolio through new development and acquisitions. Prior to National CORE, Michael served as Interim Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Strategy for CalOptima, the community health plan for Orange County.
Michael has also served in national and regional roles for the Urban Land Institute. He has served as District Council Chair for ULI Orange County/Inland Empire and Chair of Mission Advancement. Since 2014 he has served as a member of the national Public-Private Partnership and more recently Affordable and Workforce Housing Product Councils, ULI’s premiere councils for industry leaders.
As a recognized leader in affordable and workforce housing, Michael serves on the Board of Governors for the California Housing Consortium and on the Advisory Board for Affordable Housing at the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate. He was also selected to serve as served as Chair of the Jury Panel for the HUD 2016 Innovation in Affordable Housing Competition.
Michael received his master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from UCLA and completed post-graduate work in management at both UC Irvine and UCLA. He has also served for over 20 years as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Graduate Program in Planning, Policy and Design at UC Irvine.
