FLORENCE MILLS APARTMENTS

LOS ANGELES, CA

Florence Mills Apartments (FMA), developed by Hollywood Community Housing Corporation, is a 74-home environmentally-forward, mixed-use affordable housing development located in the Central Avenue Historic District of South Los Angeles. FMA includes approximately 5,000 square feet of commercial retail on the ground floor, which is utilized by a local nonprofit to provide tuition-free music instruction to FMA’s residents aged 4 and older. The building features murals created by local artist Myisha Arellanusto celebrate the legacy of the building’s namesake Florence Mills, an extraordinary African American singer and dancer and a passionate advocate of racial equity and civil rights.
