T BUILDING

T Building in Jamaica, NY won a 2023 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award in the Historic Preservation Housing category.

T Building represents the adaptive reuse of the vacant, former Triboro Tuberculosis Hospital in Queens, New York. The former hospital was originally built in 1941 and was transformed by Dunn Development Corp. into a community featuring 200 affordable housing units and 20,000 square feet of non-residential space. Seventy-five of these homes are supportive housing units reserved for residents with special needs and/or a history of homelessness. In addition to the Housing Credit, the development was partially financed through the Historic Tax Credit, and financing for the property was facilitated by Red Stone Equity Partners.

Throughout the property’s redevelopment, key historic features of the building were preserved and renovated, including the main staircase, skylights, and windows, and the historic library on-site. In collaboration with the New York City Human Resources Administration and CAMBA, Inc., T Building also features a variety of on-site resident services to provide economic development, education and youth development, health, and legal support to residents.
