The AHTCC held a webinar on Advocating for the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA) on July 12, 2019, to discuss the reintroduction of this important legislation. The AHCIA, introduced by affordable housing champions Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Todd Young (R-IN), Ron Wyden (D-OR), and Johnny Isakson (R-GA) in the Senate (S. 1703), and Representatives Suzan DelBene (D-WA-1), Kenny Marchant (R-TX-24), Don Beyer (D-VA-8), and Jackie Walorski (R-IN-2) in the House (H.R. 3077), would expand and strengthen the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit). If enacted, this bill would increase affordable housing production and preservation by at least an additional 550,000 homes over ten years, while making the Housing Credit a more efficient and effective tool. The AHTCC webinar covers how you can effectively advocate for this legislation, its potential impact, and key provisions that would increase production and preservation, serve hard-to-reach areas and populations, and streamline and simplify the Housing Credit.
