Big Chair Lofts is an historic adaptive re-use project co-developed by Third Wave Housing and Cohen-Esrey Development Group and syndicated by Red Stone Equity Partners that provides 139 units of affordable rental housing in Thomasville, North Carolina. Built in the early 1900s, the property was originally used by the Lambeth Furniture Company Mill and was recently utilized for Thomasville Furniture Industries until 2011, but had since been vacant. In 2015, the building was nearly torn down, but was saved by the sponsors who were committed to preserving the historic landmark to provide affordable housing for the community. Contributing to residents’ health, well-being and success, Big Chair Lofts includes a business center, community room, exercise facility, and outdoor recreation areas.
