EL NUEVO AMANECER APARTMENTS

El Nuevo Amanecer Apartments in Los Angeles, California 2025 Recognition of Housing Tax Credit Excellence in the Veterans Housing category.

Developed by East LA Community Corporation (ELACC), El Nuevo Amanecer provides 59 affordable homes for families and individuals in Los Angeles, California. Thirty-one of El Nuevo Amanecer’s homes are permanent supportive housing apartments for veterans who have faced challenges including homelessness, 33 homes are reserved for tenants at 30 percent of area median income (AMI), and 26 homes are reserved for tenants at 50 percent of AMI. Translated to “The New Sunrise,” homes at El Nuevo Amanecer serve as a fresh start – a place where families rebuild their lives and veterans find peace and stability.

El Nuevo was a victim of arson and caught fire at 70 percent completion in September of 2020, destroying the fully framed and roofed structure. In Spring 2024, the doors finally opened at El Nuevo Amanecer – welcoming families and veterans. The development is focused on community-based living and supporting residents through after-school tutoring, financial literacy classes, case management and support for local businesses with retail space.

The development represents the efforts of East LA Community Corporation and CREA, LLC to preserve, improve, and increase affordable housing opportunities in Los Angeles, California.
