OAK PARK APARTMENTS
PASO ROBLES, CA
Oak Park was originally built in 1941 as military housing for Camp Roberts and converted to HUD public housing in the early 1950s. The property consisted of 148 homes of barracks-style housing and was owned and managed by the Housing Authority of the City of Paso Robles (“PRHA”) until its disposition with HUD in 2012 to create new affordable housing.
With all four phases completed as of 2020, Oak Park Apartments is comprised of 301 rental homes in numerous newly constructed buildings containing one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments. Persons and families earning between 30 percent and 60 percent of area median income are qualified to occupy the homes.
Oak Park was created to showcase sustainable development practices in close proximity to jobs, shopping, parks, schools and transportation. Property amenities include tot lots, sport court, indoor and outdoor gathering areas. On-site social service programs through Paso Robles Housing Authority (PRHA) and their Youthworks program are held in the two community buildings and connect residents to a variety of activities and services the community has to offer.
Affiliates of PRHA are the nonprofit managing general partners of all phases. Affordable Housing Development Corporation was a co-developer and partner throughout the construction of the final two phases and R4 Capital LLC was the Housing Credit and California State Credit equity provider for the third phase.
