Oliver Station
Oliver Station in Camden, New Jersey won the 2026 Recognition of Housing Tax Credit Excellence in the Housing for Seniors category.
Located in Camden’s Whitman Park neighborhood, Oliver Station is a housing and health care community featuring 46 affordable homes atop a 5,400-square-foot primary care office operated by Virtua Health – South Jersey’s largest healthcare provider.
Oliver Station offers high-quality, affordable homes for households with at least one resident aged 55 or older, and a household income of no more than 60 percent of the area median income. Ten apartments are set aside for people aged 55 or older who qualify for housing subsidies from the Camden Housing Authority, including five apartments for people formerly experiencing homelessness.
Oliver Station is the first community in South Jersey and the second in the state to benefit from the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency’s (NJHMFA) Hospital Partnership Subsidy Program. The community’s name pays homage to both Reverend Thomas Clement Oliver, a conductor on the Underground Railroad who briefly lived in Camden, and the late New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Sheila Y. Oliver, who served as commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs and board chair of the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. With these namesakes in mind, Oliver Station honors Camden’s legacy while presenting a forward-thinking housing model that integrates affordable housing, health, and dignity for residents and the wider community.
The development represents the efforts of The Michaels Organization, Berkadia, and TD Bank to preserve, improve, and increase affordable housing opportunities in Camden, New Jersey.
