SOLAIRE APARTMENTS
San Jose, California
Solaire Apartments is a permanent supportive housing development in the Diridon Station Area of San Jose, a rapidly evolving transit hub. Developed by Eden Housing, Solaire provides deeply affordable housing to individuals and families at risk of displacement, including lower-income workers, seniors and those who have experienced homelessness.
The development transformed an underutilized and neglected site into 130 affordable homes. Half of the apartments are designated as permanent supportive housing, addressing Santa Clara County’s homelessness crisis with Section 8 project-based vouchers and wraparound services provided by the County’s Office of Supportive Housing. The remaining apartments serve households earning 50 percent to 60 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI), offering long-term affordability in an area experiencing significant market-rate development.
The project’s robust resident services model enhances long-term housing stability. On-site case management, delivered by Eden Housing Resident Services and the County’s partner HomeFirst, provides individualized support. Enrichment programs, ranging from financial empowerment workshops to youth education initiatives, promote self-sufficiency and community engagement. Solaire Apartments exemplifies innovative public-private collaboration, leveraging city and county resources to create a lasting impact on San Jose’s housing landscape.
Financing for this property was provided by National Equity Fund, and it was developed by Eden Housing, Inc., utilizing the 4 percent Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit).
