2026 Affordable Housing Symposium Highlights

On June 10 and 11, 2026, the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition (AHTCC) and Housing Advisory Group co-hosted the 2026 Affordable Housing Symposium in Washington, DC. Attendees heard remarks from members of Congress, including Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins (R-ME), Sens. Todd Young (R-IN) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA), and Reps. Darin LaHood (R-IL-16), Suzan DelBene (D-WA-1), Jimmy Panetta (D-CA-19), House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing & Insurance Chairman Mike Flood (R-NE-1), Mike Lawler (R-NY-17), and Secretary of the House Republican Conference Erin Houchin (R-IN-9).

Attendees also heard updates from congressional staff representing members on key House and Senate committees and insights from industry leaders and advocates on the latest issues impacting the Housing Credit. After the symposium, all participants were invited to attend a networking reception with key members of Congress and staff.

The following day, Thursday, June 11, 2026, the AHTCC and Housing Advisory Group arranged congressional meetings for nearly 60 participants with 31 congressional offices as part of the Symposium, to continue building support for the Housing Credit and current policy priorities.

Attendees heard from key members of Congress during the 2026 Affordable Housing Symposium.

Panel Discussions

 

A discussion with key congressional staff was moderated by Emily Cadik, CEO, AHTCC and David Gasson, Executive Director, HAG, and featured panelists Lauren Bazel, Office of Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA); Curt Beaulieu, Office of the Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA-4); Grace Enda, Office of Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR); Victoria Honard, Office of Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA-1); Ben Monticello, Office of Rep. Darin LaHood (R-IL-16); Anna Tyger, Office of House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO-8); and Drew Weinstock, Office of Sen. Todd Young (R-IN).

The Affordable Housing Hot Topics panel was moderated by David Gasson, Executive Director, HAG, and featured panelists Tom Davis, Director, Office of Recapitalization, US Department of Housing and Urban Development; Denise Muha, Executive Director, National Leased Housing Association; Beth Mullen, Partner, CohnReznick LLP; Michael Novogradac, Managing Partner, Novogradac & Company LLP; and Jennifer Schwartz, Director of Tax and Housing Advocacy, National Council of State Housing Agencies.

The Policy and Advocacy Update was led by Emily Cadik, CEO, AHTCC, and featured panelists Kevin Dowling, Executive Vice President, AHTCC; Sean Farrell, Founder and CEO, East Capitol Advisors; Christopher Hatcher, Principal, Williams & Jensen; Matt Hoekstra, Principal, Williams & Jensen; Bob Moss, Board Chairman, HAG; and Chris Wilcox, Principal, Williams & Jensen. The panel to prepare participants for a day of congressional meetings was moderated by Hunter Pickels, Senior Vice President, Policy & External Affairs, AHTCC, with featured panelists Meagan Swaney, Policy and Communications Associate, AHTCC, and Alex Turney, Policy Manager, AHTCC.

Congressional Reception

Following the general meeting, event attendees were invited to a Congressional Reception to network with members of Congress and their staff, including Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR).
