AHTCC Hosts 2018 Spring Meeting and 24th Annual Charles L. Edson Awards

  • 2018 News, AHTCC Meetings and Events, Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Awards

On Wednesday June 13th, the AHTCC hosted the Annual Spring Meeting and the 24th Annual Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Awards (Edson Awards). Edson Award winners, members of Congress, and business and nonprofit leaders gathered to celebrate Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit) developments that are strengthening communities, improving health, and boosting economies in urban, suburban, and rural areas nationwide. The AHTCC also presented Affordable Housing Champion Awards to three members of Congress for their exceptional leadership: Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Ron Wyden (D-OR).

We congratulate all Edson Award winners and honorees who harnessed the Housing Credit as a powerful tool for creating community, fostering public and private partnerships, and promoting investment in affordable housing nationwide. Each development recognized at the Edson Awards exemplifies the importance of the Housing Credit as smart and impactful policy to strengthen America’s communities and provide homes that transform the lives of low-income families, veterans, seniors, individuals with special needs, and more. Congratulations to all for this well-earned recognition.

The thoughtful discussions at our Spring Meeting sessions are also integral to the work of expanding and strengthening the Housing Credit. We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to all the panelists and speakers at the meeting for their insight and expertise. It was an honor to host these leaders in our field and to learn from their experiences.

Finally, special thanks to the members of Congress who attended for their support of the Housing Credit as a proven tool for community building and revitalization. We look forward to continuing to work with you all to strengthen and expand the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit.
