HOPE MANOR JOLIET
67 Affordable Homes
2019 Charles L. Edison Tax Credit Excellence Award Winner in the Veterans Housing Category
Hope Manor Joliet, developed by Volunteers of America and syndicated by the National Equity Fund, provides 67 units of affordable rental housing for veterans and their families who are at serious risk of instability. Hope Manor Joliet is on the former Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, Illinois and is one of the first large-scale, supportive housing developments in the country specifically designed for veterans with families. The project features two- and three-bedroom apartments, a community room, resource rooms and a playground with on-site services that include comprehensive employment readiness classes, peer support groups, youth programs, access to recovery resources, and coordination of services with the nearby Joliet Community Based Outpatient Clinic and Hines Jr. VA Hospital. Hope Manor Joliet provides much more than housing for veterans who are struggling – it helps veterans to improve their lives over the long-term by promoting self-sufficiency, building new skills, creating strong support networks and integrating veterans more positively into community life.
