AHTCC members are increasingly financing affordable housing that pairs the federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (Housing Credit) with state-level Housing Credits. This year, the AHTCC formed a working group to develop recommended practices and considerations for state Housing Credit programs. We are pleased to share that State Low-Income Housing Tax Credits: Recommended Practices and Considerations is now available to assist stakeholders in streamlining the implementation and management of state-level Housing Credit programs.
To increase affordable housing production, over 25 states have created Housing Credit programs that supplement the federal Housing Credit. The rules and regulations of these programs vary from state to state, and each state’s experience provides valuable lessons as new states consider implementing their own Housing Credit programs. The AHTCC’s recommended practices and considerations incorporate these lessons to help guide the legislative and regulatory development of new state Housing Credit programs.
The collaborative development of this new resource relied on the extensive experience with state Housing Credit programs of AHTCC members, including over 50 organizations as part of the State Tax Credit Working Group. To learn more, access the resource by clicking the link above.
