For many years, the need for housing that responds to the unique needs of military veterans in Orange County, CA has been unmet, especially for those veterans who are homeless and struggling to survive on the streets. Jamboree is a part of the solution.

While more than 700 veterans call a Jamboree community home, Heroes Landing is Jamboree’s first property exclusively for veterans. Located in Santa Ana, CA, it is Orange County’s largest veterans supportive housing community for formerly homeless veterans. These 75 formerly homeless veterans are supported onsite by the Heroes Landing Community Collaborative, bringing together in one place, Orange County’s leading veterans service providers.

As Orange County’s largest developer of Permanent Supportive Housing, Jamboree has taken a leadership role is addressing the region’s chronic homelessness crisis, partnering with United Way Orange County to help fund the 2017 University of California, Irvine study, Homelessness in Orange County: The Costs to our Community, which identified supportive housing as a key cost-saving measure in effectively addressing homelessness. Based on this research, Heroes Landing is anticipated to save Orange County $2.5 million in emergency services, unnecessary hospitalizations, and other municipal expenses annually.

A testament to the uniqueness of this community, Jamboree brought together a nexus of nine public and private funding sources – including $12.9 million in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (Housing Credit) and 75 VASH vouchers through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs – to transform a vacant lot into a sanctuary of stability and a hub of hope for some of Orange County’s most vulnerable residents.
