Senators Roberts (R-KS) and Cantwell (D-WA) Introduce Housing Credit Rate Floor Legislation

  • May 5, 2015
  • 2015 News, Housing Credit

On Tuesday, May 6, 2015 Senators Pat Roberts (R-KS) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) introduced S. 1193, bipartisan legislation to permanently extend the 9 percent Credit floor and enact and similar permanent floor for 4 percent allocated Credits.

In an accompanying press release, Senator Cantwell noted “The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit supports more than 90,000 jobs each year nationwide and has helped leverage nearly $100 billion in private investment in these critically needed affordable housing units.” Senator Roberts added “I have long supported the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and will push for its inclusion in any tax reform plan to be considered by Congress.”

Senators Cantwell and Roberts were joined on this legislation by 20 additional original cosponsors – a list of which is linked below.

AHTCC strongly encourages its members to contact their Congressional delegation to express their support for this legislation and to encourage those Mmebers who have not already done so to cosponsor the legislation. Senators interested in cosponsoring the House bill should contact Artie Mandel in Senator Cantwell’s office at 202-224-3441.

If you have questions concerning AHTCC’s legislative efforts in general, please contact Coalition legislative counsel Jim Miller (202-489-3711 or jmiller@taxlegislativesolutions.com) or Coalition legal counsel Rick Goldstein (202-585-8730 or rgoldstein@nixonpeabody.com).

It was my pleasure to join in this historic announcement today.

The Administration's Housing Supply Action Plan will help close America's housing supply shortfall, meaning more affordable rents ...& more attainable homeownership in every community, including in my home state of OH.
